I would like to upgrade my free hosing account to a paid one. I can't seem to find a way to do this from the free hosting control panel. How can I do this?

goto http://x10hosting.com/premium.php and order for paid hosting

Once your account is active. goto http://clients.x10hosting.com and open a support ticket to move your account from free servers to premium servers.

The staff will do it for you.
