Why use Teamspeak? Sure it's 'works' on linux as well as mac and windows, but if you ever happen to use it on linux, I pity you. I refuse to use it because on linux they programmed it to use an old, depreciated sound driver called OSS. OSS has been depreciated for years, OSS doesn't offer software mixing, meaning, if you don't have a very expensive soundcard, you hear either TS or everything else, not both.
You can't even use ALSA's oss wrapper on it because it uses fopen/fclose on the soundcards buffer which aoss doesn't support.
Use mumble/mummer or something like that.
Sure teamspeak doesn't work as well on linux, but then the game my clan plays doesn't work on linux anyway. Besides that I don't have the bandwidth to run my own voice server regardless of whether its mumble or teamspeak. As there seems to be free teamspeak servers around occasionally that's what I am looking for.
