hosting problem email scripts

i have i problem with my hosting i have created many different php scripts to send form data from my site to an email address. I have had problems with code but even when there are no problems with my code such as the code completes successfully and "thank you" messages are displayed the emails do not arrive at set addresses. I have tryed many different and similar code to attempt to get this to work i have spent hours and even just used php form generators that are available on the web just incase any of the coding i have tryed is incorrect. even generated code completes fully and i get the "thank you" message but email still does not arrive. i know there are some problems with some code where the email provider i.e "hotmail" or "gmail" block emails originating from php forms. But i have even tryed temporary email accounts with various websites and still no email arives from the submitted forms. The only conclusion i can think of is that there is a problem with the hosting server.... is there any problems with using php mail scripts???
