How can I backup my database?

I tried to backup my database with phpMyAdmin but I got suspended for high resource usage. How can I back it up without getting suspended?

You can try backing up the database in parts by selecting only a few tables eg: 1/4 of the tables or 1/2 of the tables then repeat it until you have all of them. I cannot think of any other way to do this.
