How can I find the history of a Domain name & its registration?

Hi,

I am trying to find out how a colleague's domain name has been swiped by someone else, after 10 years of widespread use.

I would like to be able to see when the registration was changed, and preferable by whom.

Can anyone suggest how to do this please?

If the domain name is still registered, whois.net - it'll at least say when it was changed and who it is currently owned by. As far as past history though, that I'm not sure of.

That said what's entirely possible is the domain expired, the grace period expired, and someone else bought the domain - it happens.

You can use Google query about the website and the sites that link to them.

Livewire, I think you may be right, it's no clear yet what the timelines were.

Webdezineblog82, I'll try that, and maybe some other search engines as well.
