As the title says. Here are some examples:
- The sign-up and login button at nexon.net
- The banner at forum.mapletip.com.

For some reason all URL links to the forum at x10.

Yes, you have to pay quite a lot for Photoshop.
Though some quite good free alternatives are GIMP or Paint.NET though there are others out there.

I tried GIMP before I got Photoshop. It's VERY different. If you're not willing to pay hundreds of dollars for CS3, you could use a cheaper alternative like Photoshop Elements 6 (about $80-90). If you don't want to pay for that, use GIMP or Paint.NET.

Another one that most of you never heard of is PhotoFiltre. Although it's not as good as GIMP or Paint.NET, it's still in my book for free & useful softwares, why you may ask? Because of its lightweight and built-in plug-ins.

Try out the Photoshop demo at adobe.com and see if you like it. If you do, then go to their student reseller (if you're a student) and you can pick it up for around $100 or so.
