x10hosting is impossible to understand for me. I just want to completely delete my website and any information and accounts related to x10hosting. How can I do this?

Let me know if there is something I can help you with if you'd like to try and stay around.

Otherwise, submit a ticket and tell them you want to close everything.

Honestly, I think I'd love to stay with x10; it's just that I have such a hard time navigating, and editing my site. I tried editing the index.html file, but it still showed the "new user" page. Then, when I tried to set up a template, it told me that it had installed on my site, but when I viewed my site, it came up with a bunch of jargon; no formatting whatsoever. And I guess somehow I deleted all the files on my site, so when I try to visit it, it gives me a 404 error.

Also, I don't like how, to log in the the cPanel, I can't use my subdomain name (it wouldn't allow me that many characters), so I have to use something different.

If you have any tips, please tell me.

Also, when I try to submit a ticket at http://support.x10hosting.com/index.php?_m=tickets&_a=submit, it first tells me that "Unable to submit Ticket; you may need to log in to submit a Ticket. If you are not registered, you can sign up for this Support Desk by clicking here." I click the link, and am then taken to "ERROR: You do not have enough permissions to access this page. Please log in by entering your e-mail address and password." What email address and password do I use? I tried using the username/password of my cPanel, and it says it has logged me in, but I get no success.

Again, if you have anything that might help me, I'd love to hear it.

And I apologize for having jumped straight to wanting to totally ditch x10 initially.

For the support ticket system, use your cpanel username and password, it should work. There is also some info on how to change the default index page.

I'm not sure how, but I did get it to work!

Can you help me with the issue of all my files being accidentally deleted? I can't do anything with my website now.

Is backup under file manager? If so, I don't see any thing related to backups. :-(

What would happen if I were to delete my website and forum accounts related to x10? Could I just sign up again with the exact same info?

There's no need to delete your forum account. Just use what you have already in the sign up process.

As for the subdomain I guess you'd have to wait a little to make sure it's fully out the system.

In your initial post with regards to updating the index.html page and it still showing the welcome page - try deleting your cache/cookies. It appears that is the most common problem with it not changing.

Back up is called R1Softbackup - slightly more complex to use and the server takes a backup of your files and stores them ready for you to browse to if needed and restore. I'm unsure as to how often this runs so it may be a case you don't have a back up to use because you've only just signed up.

For the support site - I believe you use your FORUM ACCOUNT AND PASSWORD!

I see R1Softbackup now, but Firefox tells me that "zodiac.x10hosting.com uses an invalid security certificate" when I click on it. What should I do?

Isn't there an option to carry on anyway? Try another browser? (Not the best solution by any means!).

Some sites say that to me but I'm using IE and I can either click a link that will carry me on to the site or goes back.

http://cyberiagames.x10hosting.com:2082/ << Why can't you use that link to get to your cpanel?

What sort of template was you trying to put on your site? Was it just a regular html one?

I made it in Safari; it has a backup, but not before all my files got deleted.

Does it matter how I get to the cPanel?

Re the template, I think it was a template from "SiteReptile Website Builder" under "Software/Services" on the cPanel. I put in my subdomain with x10hositng for domain name, and used my forum/cPanel username and password for FTP username and password. I clicked to go on to step 2, and eventually got to the installation part, but I think when I tried to view my site, it came up with a bunch of random characters that didn't mean anything to me.

So we've got that covered then - files are lost.

Cpanel - you said you didn't like the way you had to login because it didn't allow enough characters. I wasn't sure where you was referring to though?

I'm not familiar with the website builder. I think it's more hassle than it's worth.

You're probably better off just going to google and searching for "free html template" - there's PLENTY available! You then download it to your computer then upload it to x10 server and start editting away.

Glad to see you're staying! I think once you find a template you like, you'll end up really liking your site. If you need any help customizing your site, you can post over in programming help :)

Thanks a ton, guys.

My issue with the cPanel is that I can't use my subdomain name, because it didn't allow me enough characters to sign up with that username for the cPanel. So, I had to use something shorter that I'm not as happy with. It's no big deal, it's just been kinda bugging me.

I searched for and found a web template that I think I am happy with. I will try to work on getting it up and running on my site.

Thanks again!
