How do I remove all traces of a program?

I installed Nero 9 a few months with my own license key that I bought. Now that it had expired, I decided to uninstall Nero. However, after the uninstallation, the Nero links in the context menus and in the autorun prompts still remain. I checked my Program Files and saw that Nero was completely uninstalled. But how do I remove these annoying unworking links in the context menus and autoruns?

When uninstalling programs, I recommend Revo Uninstaller which scans for leftover traces of the program: http://www.revouninstaller.com/ (Freeware Version) But since you already uninstalled Nero 9, try this:

For the item on the context menu and autorun prompts, there's probably leftover registry entries which can be fixed with tools like http://www.ccleaner.com or http://www.glaryutilities.com

Be careful with the registry so review each entry that these tools find carefully.

start > run - msconfig.

click startup tab and untick the nero boxes - this will stop anything nero-related from loading on startup. to get rid of the extra rubbish use revo as recommended above.

you can also use the msconfig bit to stop anything else from booting up, but be careful as you can disable stuff like mouse + keyboard programs (if you use anything like a logitech mouse / keyboard) etc.
