How do you get your news?

From time to time we hear that technology is 'ruining' the world. One of the things they often point to is the prevalence of people going over to the internet and internet news sites to get their information on the goings on in the world. so I would like to ask the forum dwellers here: how do you get your news? Internet? Newspaper? TV? The local gossip?

Myself, I use the internet for several reasons. First is the fact that, by visiting various websites I can get different points of view on the same subject. Second is the fact that by using the internet I'm helping to cut down (in some small way) the number of trees being harvested for paper by the US. Thirdly, some of the sites are just a hoot to visit! I mean, come on, who doesn't find most of the headlines on FARK funny?

When I go to Yahoo! and MSN to search stuff, they usually have news on their homepages...

I get my news through e-mail alerts, the student news paper, other forums, and a little from tv. I'm pretty much fed up with the news on tv, in particular the 24 hour news stations, so I try to avoid those as much as possible.

I know it's not ideal, but I always get my first dose of news everyday from reddit. I read Reuters online, and when I can be bothered, I read SMH (in paper form).

My primary source of news would be the morning news papers.
For specific interest news like F1, linux etc. I have a few select news feeds.

I dont believe that any story can be important enough to cause you to seek minute by minute updates, which these news channels seem adept at giving

hao!

i sometimes contribute to our community news stuff, watch lots of channels for national and international news, and surf the net to get in-depth stuff about news I see on TV that I get interested on.

honestly I don't bother on reading too much news, people around me tend to know much about an issue. PEACE!

I get my news through Google Reader.

I find that to be the most effective way to get my news because I like blogs, and I also subscribe to the google news rss feed. That way, I get my news consolidated all in one place.

To be honest with you, and I know this will sound just terrible to most people, I've never really cared that much about the news. I've never really tuned to my local station, I have never had a newspaper subscription, and up until recently (thanks to aol news...they make it so interesting, the devils! lol) haven't read any news online. Like for instance I read today that a copy of the Magna Carta is for sale. It's owned by Ross Perot no less.

My partner loves to watch the news. If it's not CNN its Nancy Grace. Is it just me or do they simply regurgitate the same story everyday?

One of the reasons why I watch less of it.

I have to say, the past 4 years I was a camp counselor during the summer, and it was really nice not knowing what was going on in the "outside world" because there is so much nonsense.

So, good for you that you don't care about the news, I don't either, but I still find myself watching/reading about it occasionally just so I'm somewhat knowledgeable about what's been happening.

Online : 2 news station websites, 1 newspaper website ( 1 news station & the news paper is from my old home state ) the other is a local news station.

Then the local news paper I get in the morning, and when I can ( or remember ) the local news in the afternoon and evening.
Edit:

Well, CNN / FoxNews / Etc ... those cable news shows normally do repeat the same story over and over all day. I've noticed this with late night news ( CBS "Up to the Minute" for one )

I don't really care that much about news actually. If something big's going on, I'll hear it from my friends, family, random people talking in the streets, etc.

Unless something happened that really interests me, then I look up stuff about that topic every day to see if there are any new details.

I watch the daily local news on tv for local ongoings and then once a week I read the local areas papper giving me a small grasp on my direct area.

For international news I mostly get from the net, no specific place. Just what ever catches my eye whilst browsing.
