Hi, i was just wondering if there's any point on playing games on the PC because you have to use a keyboard and mouse to control the game. I don't think computers should be used for games, weather they are sofware packages or online flash games ect...

I don't see any point in playing games on the PC when we have powerful gaming consoles like the PS3 and XBOX 360. The PS3 is much more powerful than most computers and they are made for gaming. Plus the graphics are much better as the disks can hold up to 50GB so that would mean that HD graphics and sounds are available. With so many features available on a console that's made for gaming, do you think we should still use PCs to play games or not?

I disagree. The keyboard and mouse give you enough precision in most games to make console controllers weep. Also, the cost of PC game development is cheaper compared to console game development. And please show me proof that consoles are as powerful as, if not more so than, PCs.

Also, PS3 games probably never use anywhere near the 50GB available on Blu-Ray disks. most games are just standard DVD size with 40 GB or so padding.

Try playing Age Of Mythology or Sim city on a PS!

I guess it all depends in what type of games you play. While FPS'es and sport games are best with the controller, its a pain to play stratgy games on a console.

In addition, consoles have little RAM (about 512MB) compared to PCs. So things can slow down when the action heats up.

A console requires tying up a family ( or personal ) TV set.
I have gotten real good at playing various games on my PC. ( FreeSpace is one I really enjoy )

Granted, some games work better on a bigger screen, hand held controls, etc. ( A console ) ... but to say that PCs aren't made for games, needs a rethink / reevaluation in why it was stated.
They make PCs that are SOLEY for gamers. ( Check out AlienWare )

I enjoy all gaming much more on PC than on any console; sure the console has power over mine, but an 8600GT can handle Crysis and COD4 just fine. Graphics and anti-aliasing don't have to be extremely perfect, as long as I can play I'm happy. And I figure if it can do other important stuff, it would be just as much money if I were to buy a game console and a lousy computer

You can use game pads and joysticks on computers as well, thanks to the power of USB. Besides, I find it a lot better to be able to play first person shooters on a PC as I have the accuracy of a mouse, not a stick. Besides, with the PC, you can even screen record games, given your system is fast enough, so yeah, PC should be used for games in my opinion, despite PC hardware costing more, but it's well worth it.

PCs are usually more powerful than game consoles. Plus, it is more expensive to have both when one can perform the duties of both.

You can easily use a gamepad on a PC as well. Plus, there is much more choice with PCs. You can have a $3000 system with top of the line capabilities or a $400 (or less) machine for casual gaming or just web browsing. You can choose an Operating system instead of being stuck with the one on the game console (or the games being bootable like in the past).

Overall, a personal computer is far more useful and can perform as well as a game console. In many ways a game console is a stripped-down PC with some enhanced graphics capabilities.

Mmm, I respectfully say, you're totally wrong. I own a PS3, but it's common knowledge that PCs will always defeat the consoles in graphics. The price for that is, well, a high price tag.

PCs can run at higher resolutions as well, no matter how big of a TV you have. Computer Monitors, including those massive LCD ones, are loads cheaper than LCD TVs. This makes the graphics look loads better, and is very useful when sniping (easier to make out the heads down to the pixel :D). Consoles only run at a resolution close to HD resolutions. PCs, depending on the size of the screen, can go way over 2,000x1600.

You don't always have to use a keyboard and mouse. I own a 360 and since I am used to the controller form of playing, I bought a controller for my PC and use it to play games instead of the keyboard and mouse.

Ok but i still think that the PS3 would be better for gaming, because it's made for gaming and i have played games on a PS3 and a computer but i still prefer the PS3, it's surprising how i'm the only one who voted for gaming consoles. :p

Ram shouldn't really be comared with pc vs game consoles... pcs need alot more because of the OS, then you have some many background processes...

before I was always for PC gaming, but the PS3 on my friends 50" TV turned me to console gaming... the main advantage is that with a console games are basically going to work, were as with computers there's always a chance that for some reason a game won't run on our hardware. I've got a controller for my computer, and it never worked with GTA which was really annoying >.<

I find console gaming more relaxing as well, sitting back on the sofa with a controller beats a computer chair with a mouse and keyboard. ^^

Those PS3 specs are for the prototype not the released version as well o.o

I don't think there's a difference between PCs and consoles now. About the only differences are the size of the machine and your interface with it.

I still prefer PC gaming over a console because I like the mouse and keyboard.
