Thing's great. Getting ready to build another system. My i7 System isn't finished yet (need to decide on an OS). I want another AMD build though.

On my Vista desktop, I have a 2.4GHz dual-core processor. My netbook has a 630MHz Celeron M, usually overclocked to 765MHz. My multi-OS desktop has a 2.8GHz Pentium 4.

Was your netbook built before the time of the Atom processor? My 11 year old laptop has a Pentium 3 clocked at 600Mhz.

I have this one on desktop... I don't understand the two processor of GHz.

I run Windows 7 and it works fine.

My processor really run 2 CPU's? Because I compared it to my Laptop that it is fast than a dual core 1.66GHz 2 CPU's too.

"3.00GHz" is part of the CPU's model name; "2.99 GHz" indicates the speed the processor is actually running at. Your processor is only single-core; it may or may not have HyperThreading (which fakes a second core; it performs slightly better than a straight single-core). If you had a processor with more than one core, or more than one CPU, it would directly state that.

Congratulations; your processor has HyperThreading.

Well I've confirmed it on the box of my CPU's it shows HT in it's sticker also and that is HyperThreading...

We could start a thread for startup times? That would just embarrass Windows users though :)

~Callum

actually, running tinyxp rev 9 on a p4 2.4ghz it starts in 31 seconds and shuts off in 13. this is actally faster than my ubuntu (9.04) based laptop (see below).

but as for my clock speeds...
skeleton box -> amd athlon 1800+ (socket A) overclocked to 1.5ghz
server 1 -> amd duron 1200+ @ 1.2ghz
server 2 -> intel p4 2.5ghz
lappy -> amd Athlon QL-60 x2 @1.9ghz/core

hey, why doesn't everyone run the linux hardware information benchmarks (included in partedmagic and puppylinux) and post the results. i will be the first. when i get home i will run the benchmarks and post them.
