ok so im a graphics designer who just started playing with programming, here is my first ever project with joomla. The site is by the way a preschool site for special children

criticisms would be great as long as it helps me improve my site.
advices on this specific topics would be great:
making it SEF
making it all-browser compatible.

Looks very nice! The layout is inviting and the navigation easy to use. :) I agree your site warrants its own domain name.

nice one but u need to remove this line from meta
PHP:
<meta name="generator" content="Joomla! 1.5 - Open Source Content Management" />

and change the title to

PHP:
<meta name="title" content="MPSPED_Home" />

to

Mountain Province Special Education or remove the
Code:
_Home

and add footer for copyrights like
Code:
copyright 2010 and your site name with link

I can see that mpsped.com is already registered so you have to use .net, .org or something or you can change the name of the website.

http://godaddy.com is a great domain registrator. Once you have bought the domain set the nameservers to:

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

Then go login to your account panel (link) , and then "Click here to modify my account's details»". Write your new domain there.

Alternatively you can go to cpanel and add an addon domain.

Hope it helps:)
