How to associate custom domains names

the url to my site is http://shantanutushar.x10hosting.com
I want to make it http://shantanutushar.com for this i can purchase http://shantanutushar.com which is currently available. So, will i be able to use http://shantanutushar.com instead of http://shantanutushar.x10hosting.com ?
WIll it just be a redirect? (http://shantanutushar.com > http://shantanutushar.x10hosting.com ) or all pages will become http://shantanutushar.com/*.ext format? (In simple words, i want to remove the word x10hosting from there)

What you want is possible.
First you must buy the domain you want, then you must change the NameServers to the x10Hosting name servers which are:
ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com
Then you need to login to the AMP (http://x10hosting.com/login) and set the domain name as your primary domain.

After you've done that it may take up to 72 hours for the changes to come into effect.
