how to change forum user name to 8 letters long

just signed up to the forums with a user name that is 9 letters long
went to sign up for a free sight and could only use 8 letters
How do I change my forum user name to 8 letters so that both will be the same??

You can't change your username, it messes everything up and takes far too long, sorry.
