How to connect to my site or account through FTP?

ftp://x10hosting.com
and to
ftp://ftp.x10hosting.com
but the access was denied.

I don't need any cPanel or Webmail, I just want to find a way upload the website I created at home the usual way, i.e. through FTP.
Is it possible?

Must I use cPanel?
If so, there is a problem, because I don't trust it.

You can access FTP at ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com

where youdomain.com is your main domain

It appears that x10 is using a self signed certificate, (probably temporarily), on the server in question. This means means that the certificate was not not independently verified by an external certificate authority. However, any information transmitted over a connection with a self signed certificate is STILL encrypted and secure. Despite the browser warnings, I would not be at all concerned about a self signed certificate from a well known and trustworthy source such as x10hosting.

Search online. There are a lot sites from where you can buy a domain name. If you can't afford one right now, there is the free domain service at co.cc for a free co.cc domain.

There is no benefit of x10hosting if I have to buy or search for a free domain name providers myself.
Even if I have to do this it should be mentioned in the main page of x10hosting. There should be described all steps for creating your site (I mean "how to connect through FTP", "how to register it", etc.).

For storing some files or running some scripts (or build the whole internet site) I can use my own computer, there is absolutely no need to have a server for that.

Having a server, which provides a domain name, is the major thing.

And if x10hosting can't help here then please enlighten me what is the use of x10hosting?

But wait, even without domain name, I have to be able to connect to my site using IP. I have no problem if I had to connect to it through FTP using numbers. And those numbers have to work also in http (not just ftp).

No. It is not. If it were, there would be a ton of complaints. Yours seems to be the first.

By "Your URL", it means that you are allowed to use your own URL or a subdomain. There are many free hosts that do not let you use "yourdomain.com" as the URL and force you to use "mywebsite.HOSTNAME.com".

You can always host a domain from your own computer, though the process can be extremely complicated in addition to requiring lots of bandwidth and a fast computer on 24/7.

There are two parts to hosting a website. The domain name and the web hosting server.

There is no such thing as a free top level domain (TLD) on the internet except http://www.dot.tk, though for the free service, the domain is still owned by Dot.tk and they can terminate it at will.

x10 provides free subdomains users can use like .x10hosting.com and .pcriot.com. You can change these in your account panel.

You can also try http://www.co.cc and http://www.dot.tk.

There should be a step by step explanation for new users. Especially about "not to try to choose a top-domain name", because it won't work (that's exactly what confused me).

This is what I've learned so far (correct me if I'm wrong):

1. You can't create top-level domain, only a subdomain of one of these domains:
x10hosting.com, pcriot.com, elementfx.com, exofire.net, co.cc

2. If you don't like these domains it is possible to rename the address of your site under this domain for free:
.tk
(this is done at http://www.dot.tk, I think it just creates an additional way to access your site and you have to have already working site for that)

3. Such things as "Your URL: Top-level domain name" is rather a trick than a real benefit since you can't create your top-level domain for free (right?).

4. You don't need to register anything - x10hosting does it automatically (actually it doesn't register your address anywhere, it only locally creates a subdomain and binds your address to it).
(I still don't understand how "Your URL: Top-level domain name" works, maybe you need to do some registration in this case)

Finally I was able to login through FTP to my site (renamed it and created it under domain .elementfx.com).

I'm satisfied with subdomain (actually I didn't need top-domain, i just wanted to understand whether it is possible to create it for free - obviously not).

1. and 4. x10hosting will automatically create those subdomains except for co.cc. It's a third-party free domain that you can register at co.cc, and use that account to point name servers (like a top-level domain) to x10hosting, and then add it into your account panel or park that domain or place it as addon domain (only one of the three choice placements will work at a time).

3. It's not a trick. What you copied and pasted informed you what kind of domains you can use at x10hosting. If it had said ""Your URL: Free Top-level domain name or subdomain" then it would be misleading. But it didn't say that. Most of the time, you're usually required to buy the top-level domain yourself to use it at any hosting site because that's how top-level domains are created and work on the internet.

By the way, buying a top-level domain here at x10hosting is the cheapest per year that I've seen so far. When techairlines shared that link above, it was the first time I ever saw that page. I'll definitely be buying a domain or two when my current domain expires because x10hosting is cheaper than I had been paying elsewhere.
