How to get rid of .htm or .html in URL?

Kind of a noobish question... how do you get rid of the .htm/.html extension on your site's pages?

I made a page called test: http://pokemon.exofire.net/dex/test

If I name the file "test" it converts to plain text. I have to name it "test.htm" for it to appear as HTML. (I'm using cPanel 11.) I need it to appear as HTML and located at the link above.

Apache rewrite mod I think could do it.

Also you can simple create a new folder, named "test" and put your html in it under name "index.html". Then when you go to http://pokemon.exofire.net/dex/test you will see html from index.html.
