HOW TO: upload Dreamweaver files using FTP

Using CS4. Can't connect. What am I doing wrong? Followed the steps and still a no go. Can someone help?

My first settings allowed connection and brief uploading, but during uploads 'waiting' began and for a while I could not reconect. After trying 10 different configurations, I am pretty sure I ended up right back where I started to get a successful TEST.

Access: FTP
FTP Host: ftp.HECTORSSITE.HECTORSDOMAIN.com
Host Directory: public_html/
Login: HECTORS LOGIN
Password: HECTORS PASS
Use Passive FTP: Checked
Use IPv6 Transfer Mode: Unchecked
Use Firewall:(in my case) Checked
Use Secure FTP: Unchecked

I used dreamweaver and got a true connection but my site still hasnt come up. I used the site x10 gave me and it still didnt show although i got a ftp connection :(
