.htaccess authorization issue

i am trying to use .htaccess authorization, but instead of auth form a 500 internal server error pops up. Please help!!!!
i am wondering if this is turned off on your servers?

It's not turned off, you should be able to use the authorization by .htaccess with no problems.
You may be doing something wrong. Look for an .htaccess tutorial on google and follow the steps.

If not, you've an easiest way on cPanel, where you can "Password Protect" directory's. It's very easy to use and it automatically creates you the password file and the .htaccess for the folder you want password protected.

ok i'll try the cPanel, but my .htaccess should work because i followed a very reliable tutorial

i tryed the cPanel .htaccess and a tutorial, but neither work it still has an internal server error

People will help when they can. Not everyone on x10 is experienced in all things. Continuing to bump your thread doesn't make people answer you any faster. You just have to have a little patience.

How are you sett-ing it up from cPanel?
First go to cPanel > Password Protect Directories.
Then select the folder to password protect, and click on the box of "Password protect this directory:" and put the text you want it to appear at "Name the protected directory".
When this is done, create a user from the same page.
