I was using a subdomain:

serama.booksgo.co.uk

but I have deleted it now and would like it to redirect to:

booksgo.co.uk/serama

I googled for hours for examples but nothing seems to work, even though it seems like it should be easy.

Can anyone help with telling me exactly what to do please.

You need to use CPanel to recreate the subdomain, then click manage redirections to setup a redirect to forward all traffic to the directory.

I don't want the subdomain to exist as I am limited on the number I can have. Thanks anyway.

You have to create subdomain in cpanel first...

There is no way to do this using .htaccess
If you are running out of subdomains then you can purchase double all package only $ 4.95 Only. This is One time fee. visit http://x10hosting.com/upgrade.php

You can also upgrade your account to ad-enhanced. This package require an Advertisement of x10hosting on all pages.
