HTTP 404 Error after uploading Default.aspx page to site

I am getting the infamous message, "The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.Requested URL: /Default.aspx"
after having uploaded all my content to the site via FTP. If I remove all the files then I get a directory listing.

Any ideas what the problem may be? I know the file is there. What version of the .NET Framework do you support for ASP.NET?

ASP.net isn't supported on the free servers. You need premium or Illuminated
