I get a 40552 error -- Disk Full please try later whenever I try to update my site

when I try to update my site I get a disk full error, which prevents me from doing anything. I am replacing existing files and therefore not adding to the space. This happened over the weekend, but was fixed by Monday morning, and now broken again since Monday night.
