what forum software were you using?
alot of them have security holes

and maybe try making your password harder to guess.. like, use symbols along with letters and numbers

Change all of your cpanel/ftp/mysql passwords. Also make sure you upgrade to the latest version of whatever software you are using. (PHP BB) I'm not sure if 2.0.19 is the highest? Hmm.

Prevent getting hacked?
Make sure you change your cpanel pass at least once a week
I try to have my password at least 15 characters long with mixed letters and numbers.

But it is very odd, that they didnt even touch the passwords.. theyare still the same, and i can access the CpanelX

However what they have done with the site looks like it has to be done by FTP,
but does anyone know for sure how they could have possible done this?

Be a bit realistic, people use free hosting for a reason and just because you pay for it doesn't mean it has better security.

However phpBB is serously out dated, SMF world be a good replacement system.

uh, it really sucks though, what happened to the forum...

is there any way to transfer a whole forum to another board without deleting the posts/members?

Smf also has converters to convert from almost any software, I suggest converting to it. Its free and very awesome. Also have you checked at phpbb to see if anyone else has had this happen or theres a fix for it ???

I am an Administrator or lets say the only one at the forum with alot of computer knowlage. I reported this to phpBB and got an email saying they would "look into" it. In the mean time I recorder another two hacking attempts using the Santy worm so I have converted the phpBB forum to SMF.

Invisionpower.com has a phpBB forum changer that changes any phpBB forum into Invision Power Board. Im not sure whether this would be as secure as the actual IPB forum software.
