ID card schemes

14 leading figures in the UK aviation industry have spoken out against the ID scheme. In a strongly worded letter to the Home Secretary, they express their "determined opposition" and highlight that enrolment on the National ID Scheme will provide "no additional security" - indeed it risks creating a "false sense of security".

What are your thoughts on national ID cards? Do you have them in your country? Do you think they work?

I personally think there are advantages and disadvantages, but because it's a government scheme, it'll be one monumental cock up, with lasting repercussions. My view is reinforced by the spate of CDs with private/confidential data that have gone missing here (in the UK) recently.

Security is a concern, but it would be a good idea to ensure someones identity when needed, as passports and driver's licenses are faked rather easily..

There is some thing coming up called as E-passport with embedded chip in it. It is said thats, its difficult to make a fake of it. it going to be soon given to the public who is going to apply for the passport by sept or december this year in india.
