Hello.

My friend has Windows 7 Ultimate in her laptop. Recently it has started flashing the 'copy of Windows is not genuine' error.
Now as far as I know, this is because of installing the Update for Microsoft Windows KB971033.
I asked her to check the list of installed updates from the Control Panel (Control Panel -> Uninstall a program -> View installed updates).
She says that there is only one update listed there (related to Adobe).
Now if the KB971033 update had been installed, it should have showed up on that list, right?

So does it mean that the KB971033 was not installed?
In that case, how did Microsoft identify that the copy is non-genuine? Is there a way other than installing that update?

P.S. The copy of Windows 7 Ultimate was installed in that laptop less than a month ago.
