Looking at the error you have provided it appears that the $result is not a valid object to pass into the mysql_fetch_row function. You may be getting an error from the mysql_query on line 164. Check the result for FALSE by adding the following lines after 164 as shown:
$result = mysql_query($SQL);
if (!$result) {
$msg = 'Invalid query: ' . mysql_error() . "\n";
$msg .= 'Whole query: ' . $SQL;
die($msg);
}

Then see if you are getting an error returned.

I hope this helps,

James

You need to make sure the mysql_select_db line is at the top of your document. If it is, make sure that the database name is correct.

Can you tell me if its there? Im a computer Tech not a web designer, I am very new to this and still learning so I need pretty specific details on help. Im sorry I am not more knowledgeable I know it makes things for those helping me very difficult. I posted the script higher up in this topic can you look at it and tell me what I need to do? I really appreciate all the help you people have offered. Thank you.
Edit:
I did a search of that string and found some code that looks like I may need to edit it with things such as my database name table names and that kind of stuff, here it is. Please be specific when telling me where to type what.

Class OnlineUsers Extends DataProducer {
// Public
var $host;
var $username;
var $password;
var $dbname;
var $tablename;
var $timeout;
var $update_frequency = 5;
// Private
var $conn;
var $db;
var $totalusers;
function dbconnect() {
$this->conn = mysql_connect($this->host, $this->username, $this->password);
}
function setup($createdb) {
// Create database if specified
if ($createdb) {
$SQL = "CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTS ".$this->dbname;
$result = mysql_query($SQL);
}
// Connect to specified db + drop table if it exists
$this->db = mysql_select_db($this->dbname, $this->conn);
$SQL = "DROP TABLE IF EXISTS ".$this->tablename;
$result = mysql_query($SQL);
// Create table with tablename
$SQL = "CREATE TABLE ".$this->tablename." (
ip varchar(15) NOT NULL DEFAULT '' ,
time int(11) ,
PRIMARY KEY (ip),
UNIQUE id (ip),
INDEX id_2 (ip)
);";
$result = mysql_query($SQL);

more specifically the exact string was

// Connect to specified db + drop table if it exists
$this->db = mysql_select_db($this->dbname, $this->conn);
$SQL = "DROP TABLE IF EXISTS ".$this->tablename;
$result = mysql_query($SQL);

once again thank you. You guys are so talented to understand this coding, I understand html pretty well and a bit of javascript but php seems a bit more advanced.

It looks like the error is on the page calling the php script. Which page is this being called from? I looked at http://www.residualincome.x10hosting.com but didn't see where any of the php script was being called from. I suspect that the function getUsersOnline is being called before either the OnlineUsers or DataProducer classes have been initialized. The syntax for the mysql_query function takes up to 2 parameters, the first is the query to run and the second is a resource that is the link_identifier to the MySQL connection to use. If the link identifier is not specified, the last link opened by mysql_connect is assumed. If no such link is found, it will try to create one as if mysql_connect was called with no arguments. If by chance no connection is found or established, an E_WARNING level error is generated.

Go the the page that is calling the OnlineUsers->getUsersOnline function and place a call to OnlineUsers->dbconnect before it. This is a function in the OnlineUsers class that opens the connection to the database.

I hope this helps,

James

Ill go try and find that page right now and try and post a reply right now, so I have to find the page that is "calling" this page? wouldnt that be the home page that you used to get the error since it called the error or something else? anyways Ill start looking for anything relevant.

Would it make it easier for you if I uploaded the entire script/website and the install manual I downloaded? My virus scanner said there was a virus in it but that may be wrong, and if not Im sure you could heal the file with avg and then use it anyways? If you dont want the files I could just post the install manual.

EDIT: Ok I downloaded avg and scanned it to save you the hassle avg said there was no virus, sometimes the antivirus I uses sees normal programs as viruses because of there functions or whatever. I dont think there is anything harmful in the folder itself, although some virus scanners may think there is, the best option if you feel unsafe is to heal the file and not delete it since we need it for the website : p sorry for any inconvenience remember I downloaded this I didn't create it, it is a wonderful script/website though.

P.S. BTW The install guide doesnt specify which page to use as your homepage and there was no index in the main folder that I could find so I used /theme/en/page_index.html as it sounded and looked a little correct, however Im thinking the problem might be which page I used or maybe the files were supposed to be moved around in the folders when I uploaded them to the site but it doesnt say in the guide? Im more convinced I did something wrong and not the scripts themselves.

did you change the parameters in the config_inc.php file? This is where you direct it to your MySQL instance. Looking at the other files provided I would say that the index.php should be the home page, this page calls all the initialization routines and then makes a call to display_home_page("page_home.html"). This will open the file theme/en/page_home.html.

Ill upload my personalized config_inc.php file and yeah I saw that index.php file I just didnt know I could use a index.php file as an index, I thought it had to be html, right now I think this webhost is set to use index.html as the main page how do I fix that, just delete index.html and it will see index.php as the next closes thing? or do I need to rename it or change settings?
EDIT: I deleted the page_display.html or w/e it was and tested the page to see if it would automatically use index.php as the main page and now it is giving me those same mysql errors, I didnt put that html page back so u can test it if you want by going back to the sitehttp://residualincome.x10hosting.com/

There seems nothing wrong with you config file and it's really 'localhost' for the db hostname if it's in the same server as the scripts (x10hosting). index.php file is actually the one the server should load (if it exists) before any index.html file so you need not delete the index.html one. And index.php might have some other scripts that it executes if you access it. Did you import the table structure from db.sql.zip as said by the instructions?

index.php is the home page and you don't need to copy template//page_index.html one because it doesn't initialize any php scripts

I imported the table into phpmyadmin, was that the correct place? I wasnt sure, but there was an import option there so I thought it was a good shot.

It doesnt say browse on my page but when I copy and pasted that was carried with it, so just ignore that part. And btw ty for joining in the helping of this poor little php nub
Edit:
Could the problem be that maybe the scripts are in the wrong folders? or I uploaded all the files into the wrong directory or something like that? anyways that was my nubly guess

Edit:UPDATE NEW POST!!!

Ok first off I'd like to say I am a dumbass, Natsuki indeliberately found the problem. Here is the pm he sent me, it will help make what im about to say understandable.
hmm I tested it in my localhost and it works completely..
there's no problem with the script, maybe it's your database... can you delete it and remake the db then import the table again in it (or you could make a test db if you still have some free database left, then change the dbname in config_inc.php to the test database

example:
1. in cpanel click mysql databases, make a database named test (that becomes dquigley_test) and add user dquigley_dquig to it with all permissions to it
2. goto phpmyadmin, click dquigley_test, then import the table again
3. then change the dbname in config_inc.php to dquigley_test
4. try to go to your site again (which is actually index.php)
check if it still not working.

if it still doesn't work it's probably you misplaced the scripts..

So he told me to make a test database and when I did that I added my user to it and I noticed something, my main database didnt have a user, and then it clicked ^____^ I didnt add the user T~T So its working now the site itself still has to be edited and I have to add all my personal info to it and customize it and such but you can check the end result of our labor at

Isn't it funny how something so little could cause such a horrendous and complicated LOOKING problem? Stupid web design : P Im so glad its up though, cant wait to edit all the data and make it personalized.

If you can't change the type of that can be used for the index page then have that type just do a redirect to index.php. Then when ever the index.html is served up it will automatically redirect to index.php

The configuration file looks fine from what I see.

PS, I posted this before I read all the other messages...
