Inactivate/Deactivate a Domain

I've been using the free x10.mx domain.
I have a site called ilvtaian.x10.mx and I want to inactivate the site - but not delete the files making that website.
I've used the site to modify/rename the ilvtaian domain to another name - the action is complete and change finished. However, the site is still visible and active with the old name. Is this normal? Or, is it just a DNS server update issue - that it's slow or something?
I've used a different browser that never accessed the site before to confirm it wasn't a cookie/cache problem in my usual Firefox browser - but the site is still there using the old name.
So basically, I do not want to close my account - I want to continue hosting a site, but want the ilvtaian.x10.mx site to be "suspended/closed/inactive" so if people try to visit it, the will not find the site.
