Hey,

The problem i have is that when i go to my url i'm presented with the default x10hosting welcome screen even though i have uploaded my own index file in the public_html directory.

if i type http://myname.x10hosted.com i get the welcome screen where as
if i type http://myname.x10hosted.com/index.html i get my page so i guest my question is how to i link my url with the index file?

I'm probably missing something very simple but i've tried to work it out and now i give up and am asking for your help please! lol

Try flushing your DNS/clearing your cache - http://support.x10hosting.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=10

I tried flushing my DNS resulting in no changed
I then cleared my cache and it worked a treat
