when active chmod 666 in my files, I get the following message in browser "Internal Server Error". I checked and found that the problem is with the activation of the writing. When disable write (CHMOD 644), everything works perfectly.

hello,

For security reason the server has been set up that way, file that will be executed (ie viewed in the browser) can not have 666 (or 777) as chmod, and they should not need to either.

I'm having another problem like that.

I'm doing the installation of cms "movable type" , working with CGI scripts and need permission CHMOD 777 the folder (/ public_html / fretsonfire) to run scripts and also be able to record data, but I am not able to do that.

When installing the cms always get the error message "The 'Publishing Path' Provided below is not writable by the web server. Change the ownership or permissions on this directory, then click 'Finish Install' again."

Would have any way to fix it?

Thanks

If that folder is not directly accessed by the user viewing the site, you should be able to have it as 777 without getting an error.

The problem was that he was putting the path to /public_html/fretsonfire, when he should put /home/mrk3004/public_html/fretsonfire.

Everything working fine now:)
