Hi

My site keeps generating an internal server error and will not load. I was in the middle of updating the software (TastyIgniter 3(php)), when it returned an internal error and I haven't been able to load a page from the site since.

I have tried removing the htaccess file (although this shouldn't have changed), to no avail.

What's wrong? what can I do?

The problem with 500 server errors is that it does not describe exact causes.

500 server errors could be:
- A Permissions Error.
- A PHP Timeout or other php error.
- A Coding Error in the .htaccess file or other required files.

even updating your software might of been the cause.
this is why backing up files is so important,
then you could easily go and replace files from backups if needed.

deleting the htaccess file may have been a mistake,
especially if it was not causing your error at all.
as other software may have added code to it in order to work.
wordpress is known to do that, as well as some forums or other scripts.

if you provide more information like a website url,
it might help someone figure out where the problem comes from.

You misunderstand. I deleted the htaccess file just to test the server, I have since restored the original. This tells me that the htaccess file was not a problem.

I have noticed on my cpu usage that at the same time this occurred, a fault was registered on the cpu. The service generally runs with no such faults.

The url is unibites.x10host.com

I tried the url http://unibites.x10host.com but it displays as a blank page.
usually thats an indicator of a php coding error or php failure.
normally, 'viewing page source' would show the 'pages' code,
if you had a 'index.php' or 'index.html' page.
but yours dont show the page source.
do you have a 'index.php' or 'index.html' page in your 'public_html' folder ??

Do you have a backup from before your (TastyIgniter 3(php)) update.
sorry i dont know what is as ive never heard of it myself.

I've tried different things. I think that the update was interrupted at a critical time. I have the data, so I will reinstall the app over the top and see how that goes. If that fails I'll do a clean install and restore the data I have.

Thanks for your help.
