Hi i have found a copy of IPB 2.0 Trial Unlimited and i have installed it and i am going to use it but just to be sure that i dont get suspended or anything i have found a thread on this kinda and im just making sure that i am allowed to use it. I have read online that it is legal to use a trial copy of any IPB software as long as its a trial. I have also read that it is not recommended to be used because of all the security problems but just making sure.

the thread link is here. http://x10hosting.com/forums/off-topic/12081-ipb-2-0-a.html

Hi,
Just curious and a bit annoyed..that I did not find any link from http://www.invisionpower.com/suite/demo.php which says its free trial for unlimited time.
Can you just post a link from any official invisionpower site that says what you said?

Actually no i cannot as i found on other areas over the internet non of witch go to the invision power services area. I have read somewhere that it is legal but there is no longer any support services for 2.0.0 trial unlimited.

The copyright of the software is for 2004.

You will not find anything about this software on the IPB website because they dont support it anymore. So i gained all my information from alot of websites over the internet.

I will try to post all the links that i have read from.

The answer's in the discussion on your first link:

"Well you can't get those legally anymore. You can only use them if you downloaded them when they were on the IPS servers."

Since you can't download it from IPS directly anymore, it would be considered nulled software. The reason here being that IPS has a clause on that particular trial that it cannot be redistributed, except by them. Since they no longer distribute it, any way you managed to get it pretty much would've been illegal.

Ok but in one of those links its says that if you get the software BEFORE they stopped distributing it then i would be allowed to use it. but if i got it AFTER then it would be illegal.

The reason im asking is because i was going through my pc today and found a copy but i also found a link online but since i already had the copy does that mean i am allowed to use it?

Did you get the trial from IPS when it was originally distributed in 2004? If you aren't sure, don't risk it.

So you don't know where it was downloaded from?

Do not use it. Unless you can provide proof that you got it from the Invision site back when they still offered it (which I'm 100% sure you can't), it is illegal even if it is a "trial" version because the terms of the trial prevent distribution to other people. The files will of course be dated 2004, that is when they were last edited, not when you downloaded them.
