I wanted to ask if it would work to introduce an "A" entry at my provider's config domain page pointing to my account's IP without changing the DNS server configured at that table. I tried this, but then I get an error message when I try to park the domain. Is it absolutely neccesary to change the DNS server at my domain provider?

Thanks.

My first thought would be yes, the domain has to be pointed at X10 to function properly.

I could do this using another hosting service long ago, but aparently this cannot be done here. Anyway, could anyone tell me how can I know what the IP of my account's site is? I can't find this information at the cpanel. Thanks

You would need to set the nameservers on the domain to ours, ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com, in order to be able to add the domain in the controlpanel. This is required for a couple reasons, one being to verifying that you own the domain and to make sure no one tries to add an non-existing domain to their account.

Once the domain is added you are free to change back at the provider though if needed, just make sure to set a proper A record if you do.

The IP for your server is: 198.91.81.6

You should be able to see that information on the left hand panel when you use the cPanel x3 theme as well. Alternatively you can always ping your x10 domain to find out the IP.

Thank you for your quick and accurate answer. I'm afraid changing the NS in my domain provider is not going to be easy, in the case it's possible. They don't provide this as an option in their dashboard. Anyway I'll try. The A entry I'd need after parking the domain and revert back to previous state should be pointing to 198.91.81.6, right?. Thanks again. Very kind of you.

That is correct, the A record should be pointed to that IP.

Most domain providers have means to change dns, but we know there's some exceptions.

If it is absolutely impossible to change nameservers, let us know and we'll see about an admin adding it for you, though that could come with a bit delay as there's only a select few that have that server access (I do not at have access).

OK Anna, I will see what I can do, and what my provider can do for me, and if it's not possible, I will tell you, as you suggested. Very kind of you again. Thanks a lot.
