Issue with connecting to MySQL

Hello,

I setup web hosting with you today

id code is: WDEP2OBTGHFF

and I am able to connect to the site via FTP and have copied across some files but I want to install a forum and I am getting errors connecting to MySQL.

I have setup the databases and added users and given them permissions. I have searched here and am using the correct data eg, localhost and my CP login_dbname or dbusername however I get an error saying access denied when my forums installation script tries to connect.

I believe there may be a problem with something as the same thing happens if I try to install something through softaculous or through a script manually. In an effort to determine if I could indeed connect to my databases I tried running phpMyAdmin and I get the following error when I click on that from my Control Panel

Wrong username/password. Access denied.

as this occurs when I am in my Control Panel and just click on the phpMyAdmin icon it has nothing to do with any user entered settings I am entering and feels like an issue with the setup of MySQL.

Could you please advise me on this as I am keen to get my website setup.

Im using Wordpress when i try to enter the connection details i type jlgager_wordpress for dbname, jlgager_admin for username and i enter my password, and then localhost for Database Host. I get: Error establishing a database connection

Seems there is no issue with server!!! you misconfig any thing thats why you are facing problems...

Corey did some secret mumbo jumbo to Boru, is there still an issue? If there is could you please state exactly what you are using as settings (of course delete the password).

You could also try recreating the database user, make sure that you link it with the database giving the user all privileges on that database.
