I just wanted to say thanks because despite telling me that suspending my account for the ad situation, which was easily resolved as soon as I realized it was removed (THE DAY BEFORE IT GOT SUSPENDED),I now have every reason to believe that your messing with my site caused all of my php problems with my forum. I dont know what all was done while it was suspended, but I can no longer post, or even access my admin control panel and it was fine before it was suspended. Now I really have no other alternative but to start over and reinstall it. If I save the DB to upload to the fresh install, it will bring the problems with it, so I HAVE to do it all over again. Thanks.

Also, THANKS for the support I have been given. I understand this is supposed to be "free" hosting- but it really isnt free, it just dont cost any money to be hosted. It isnt free from dictatorship, hassles, and errors that you wouldnt get for a paid hosting service. It isnt free from demands and incompetence.

This forum for support has too many redirects and hoops to go through to receive any help and the iRC is a joke most of the time because every time I have been to it, people appear logged in but dont answer when I try to ask for help. It is also obvious that whenever the mods here mark a problem solved here, they never go back to see if anyone else experiences the same problem. If a fix was offered it would be reasonable to mark the problem solved and lock the thread, but if you are going to simply mark the problem solved and never return to it, you might as well delete the thread so people dont think they will get help posting where, in most forums, would be the proper place!

I do not wake up every day and set out to be a pain in the rump, but I do call things how I see them- and there is so much excess and waste here at this support forum- with very little answers or help that people can rely on. I like that my site is up most of the time, I feel I can rely on the servers here, but at this point I dont think I would ever pay for hosting service here, because the support for free hosting is setting a bad example.

Sorry, call me a grump or whatever you like, but I already cant stand the new version of phpbb because it is way too much work to get it working, now it dont work and I am extremely annoyed by that.

Im sure its not that bad as you say it is, and im pretty sure they didn't touch your files on your account. You probably made a mistake. Secondly, support here is pretty good, if not great, and if you dont like it, go try to find another free host with this much support and these great offers.

Your welcome. :thefinger

well Java, thanks for your expert analysis! I am glad you are sure that I made a mistake, when I had not touched anything and it worked fine before they messed with it. I tend to believe the people at the phpbb site when they say it was most likely caused by the hosts, since I do not have server access and it is a server error message- I was told it usually happens when a hosting service upgrades their php packages. If thats true, I dont know for sure.

I am also glad that you get such great support here, I dont see it- I still have the problem and no one has addressed it other than telling me to post the error message and then never coming back to respond. As for finding another service with better support- there are plenty out there- but I dont think any of them actually have as good of uptime as this one. My site is rarely down because of the servers and thats enough to keep me here, not enough for a good recommendation. The last hosting site I was at had EXCELLENT support, but their servers sucked big time! Well, I cant really say their support was excellent I guess because they didnt really know what they were doing most of the time- they chose to always tell you that it was something YOU did, rather than take the time to see if it was possibly their own issue. BUT they did respond very quickly to help requests.

I have been doing websites for a long time, off and on for years- I usually can figure out any of my own issues before I even bother support for help- which is why it gets annoying when you KNOW it is something on their end and not yours- yet they refuse to admit it or even look into it- and then you have a bunch of know-it-alls in the forums talking out their butt trying to tell you to do things you have already done, or saying it was probably your own doing when you know it wasnt.

Figure this out; one day you are posting at your forum, everything is working just fine- then someone messes with your site, server side, then the next time you log into your forum, you cant post anymore or access your ACP. How is that something I did? It worked the day before they messed with it. I didnt suspect that they messed with my files per say, all I said was that it worked fine until it got suspended for an ad that mysteriously disappeared, which I was willing to take the blame for, because I did work on that part of the site- but it is not linked in any way to the php part of my site. NOTHING I DID caused this to happen, so either it happened upon suspension/unsuspension or the files mysteriously altered themselves.

Dont get me wrong, I like the fact that my website is up more than not- I like that about this hosting service VERY much. I am just pissed because it took me forever to figure out that phpbb3 to get it working right to begin with, then I finally get to enjoy it and then this happened. I would also agree thatthis is probably the best freebie out there, but it doesnt mean I dont have a right to complain when I am dissatisfyed with something. THATS how service improves- feedback and griping. :)

oh and here, I think you forgot something...:thefinger

You're listed as being on Vox, which I understand has had some issues lately meaning everyone got transferred to Stoli. This move of account means that temporarily changed to Basic PHP level, until the update procedure automatically upped you to Intermediate again. I'm pretty confident that nobody would mess with your account/files.

Please keep yourself updated on news/announcements and server alerts, and for your convenience I have attached the link to the relevant issue to this posting: http://forums.x10hosting.com/server-alerts/62305-ad-enhanced-vox-server-transfer.html

What Sharky said =P

It will be fixed today.

We NEVER touch files on an account unless we are removing them due to them being illegal(Warez).

And if you really think you're going to find a better free webhost with better support, I beg you to try and do it. Most of them don't even have support forums or live help, because that's only given to paid accounts.

So, next time you need to complain, check the news first, and understand that you are not being changed a cent and we spend our time giving you free support.

I love how defensive people here are. Never mind the fact that I apologized for getting upset, never mind the fact that I was right that something here changed and it wasnt my doing- I didnt suggest my files were touched, it was someone else that suggested that in a different thread. Never mind the fact that I already disarmed all of the "if you dont like it here try somewhere else" crap that some of you like to come back with. I beg your pardon because I already praised this place for its UPTIME, but there are plenty of free hosting services with support- and I STILL like it better here. So all you brown nosers can back off now, please!?

Further more, I was RIGHT that my issue was due to something that happened here, and now that they fixed it, I see my ad is gone again, so dont get your panties in a bunch, I am on it- making sure this dont happen again if possible- adding the ad right away!

I suggest if people have a problem with my posts, they can just not respond or even look at them. They are directed to support anyways, I could care less what any of you other people think- all I care about is that my site works right. Whoever said that other hosting services arent as fast, ought to go looking around themselves, because I got faster responses from my last one- with HELP TICKETS. It is awesome you have so many routes for support here, but it is kinda hard to find the right one at the right time sometimes, I hope I am allowed to speak my mind. Its called feedback, something that most responsible businessmen use for bettering their product! I am glad that everyone here gets the support they like, however, I wonder why anyone would think that I am the only one who has had problems getting help here, when I see so many unanswered posts asking for help! I respect the few people here that actually DO try to help me, but I dont respect those of you who would rather talk smack than help. There are some great support people here, my only problem was getting ahold of them. Sorry to those I offended!!!
Edit:
ok, well I do not know what the deal is with your ads, but I have the code in my html more than once and it still isnt showing up. It was all good before, so I dont know whats up.

If the ad-code is there, then you are okay. We have a program that checks for the ad-code as we are aware that sometimes it doesn't show up. Just make sure the ad-code is on every public-viewable page, and you should be okay. ( I say should, because as humans, we do make mistakes. )

Okay, I think that everyone has finished flaming each other. ;)

C00ster, if you have any suggestions as to how x10hosting could improve their support by making it more user-friendly and quicker then they would be most welcome. Flaming people doesn't tend to help anyone, please remember that all the staff at x10hosting are not paid, we are volunteers.

Thank you,
Verbsite
