Furthermore it feels a little strange to have a list of team members with every item "post available" except for one that is not available, but still invites the visitor to apply for this post.

nice site though the concept of the site is not new, the presentation is new and attarctive
The images are auto stretched by the theme and hence if the size of the image is smaller the user experience is affected
You should get bigger images and rectangular images than square ones.
Also need to use image sprites to make loading faster and better.
If not atleast lessen the image sizes using adobe photoshop + save for web and devices option.

Yes, The images are poor quality due to stretching. This lets the look of the website down.

If you designed the images yourself, try re-scaling them in Photoshop/GIMP.

Other than that, it looks fine.
