Link to database cannot be established

I've had this error for weeks now on the ecommerce part of me web site.

Ideas anyone?

How do you know that? It has worked perfectly well in the past.

When I tried to long on to my cpanel I got a message saying (Firefox) this connection is untrustworthy - I got in by adding an exception for the page. Once in I ran the "repair database" and now it's working fine. How bizarre.
