Logging into forum - are the accounts tied?

Hi, when I signed up for an account, I chose a username and password. Then I was asked to choose a username and password for the forum. This obviously means that I ended up with different usernames and passwords for the hosting account and the forum.

I have been logging into the forum to avoid suspension, but please can someone verify that my forum account is linked to my hosting account. Thanks.

Your forum account is linked to the cPanel username: scotl1

I think they're two separate entities. You'll need your login/password for your site/cpanel and another for the forum (it's easy if you just make them the same thing)
Although, it seems like I remember reading recently that they will eventually link the two.

They are currently linked. However, you could make them have separate passwords.

It totally confused me in the beginning, too. Mostly because for the hosting, the membername could only be 7 characters, and the forum could be, i think, 10. So I was kinda forced to use EarthInc, instead of EarthIncentives (like I could on the forum, but I figured it would be easier to keep them the same.)

Yes, it is certainly easier to keep them the same. They are not the same account, they are in fact, 2 separate accounts but they are linked together. We use the forum login to ensure that you are still using your account. If you do not log into the forums once every month, we assume you are no longer using your hosting and suspend it, eventually it would be deleted.
