Login to Acct Panel fails; passwd reset doesn't resolve problem

For about two weeks I have been unable to login to account panel for account "svda". Screen display shows:
Sign in successful. Please standby while transfer to your web hosting account.
Validating your credentials
Please standby
Your request is taking longer than usual to process.
Changing the account password did not resolve the problem.
I have been able to ftp into the account to upload files OK.
Can still ftp in using the new password, but still cannot access the account panel.
HELP!

Saw replies to other similar problems & downloaded the Google Chrome browser. Problem solved.
My MS Windows XP had a security update installed on 2/14/14
(see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2916036 ) which looked like the reason my IE8 wouldn't open CPanel, but changing the Tools\Security settings per the above article didn't fix the problem, nor did uninstalling KB2916036 entirely.
But, all's well that ends well. Maybe I can learn to love Chrome. :)
