Even if I were a TA, all the computers in the network have the same restriction as normal students. It's just that teacher logins can get access Outlook's functionality

Our schools even more pathetic- We can't do anything, teachers can't do anything (we only have access to certain programs); not even the Head of IT can get around his own blocks without unblocking it for the whole school.

*Sigh*Shame that if they did let us have decent PC functionality that there would be some idiot who went and deleted everything.

Also in our school it depends which network you are are. There are 3 total, so different ones have different firewalls, one don't have a firewall at all, but it logs were you go;)

Im pretty sure by T.A you mean Teachers Account? Well, last year we had this horrible teacher, and eveyr class was a free period, and no one ever did work, her name was Mrs.Davies for reference. Anyways in our PC lab there is a main computer for teachers, but I didnt need that PC, I found out ym teachers login and password, and logged into her account on the PC I was using. So form there I could control every computer in the class. I sent a message to all computers that I, in 5 minuets would send another message to all PCS saying, Earthquake Alert! Earthquake Alert!. SO after the 5 minutes I sent the message and the whole class was yelling earthquake hiding under desks and jumping around and stuff. Pretty fun.

I go to a small school and the only person that knows there way around with computers is me.
That gives me the knowledge of many teacher account passwords. There is this one teacher that needs constant help. The latest funny event was when she told me her computer was making weird sounds and she was afraid it would blow up. She gave me her password a long time ago. Good thing too. I scanned her machine for spyware. The number was somewhere near 100. (not including tracking cookies)

Thankfully, I have full access of the internet at my college's computer labs, library and student resource center.

I cringe at the NYC Public Schools internet access though (which I will be teaching there in a few years). X10hosting isn't actually blocked there, but it's pretty sad when legitimate websites are blocked (e.g.: WABC-TV's website: 7online.com is blocked for "too much objectionable content" *shrug*)

At school I once did a "net send" which made a message pop up on the computers of everyone on the network. I went to juvenile detention center for it. :-|

I remember when i aws in school, people doing the "net send" command. It was kind of funny to be honest, but they fount a way around it and blocked us from using it. Anyone caught attempting to use it would have their account banned for a while.

Now I am in college the freedom is alot better. A lot of things that would be blocked in my old school are now not blocked at college. I think you get more freedom when at college, so of course the number of websites that are blocked is less.

Heh, at my college X10 itself isn't blocked. But loads of sites are. They blocked google images one time. But everyone now just uses a different language version of the site.

Oh, and they arbitrarily block any URL that has 'game' or 'arcade' in it. So of course, the arcarde here at X10 is blocked. Bummer.

 Oh, and even worse; they recently upgraded all the computers on site to XP, but still insist on using the classic theme, even on the decent computers. But, i found a way around that.

Rofl, one time, they even blocked the utility that allows you to change the screen resolution. So when you tried, it completely crashed the computer and made it restart. yeah, they unblocked that pretty quickly.

College and school systems staff are like big brother; they have key loggers on every machine.

btw, funny tidbit; 'FIREFOX' is a banned word at my college on the computer system.

The schools in my area blocked Myspace because people were using it to do illegal things with minors in school. Pretty sick. They have just about any site with the word game in it blocked too. Not sure about x10, I haven't used their comps for a long time.
