I've set up a couple of email accounts on a parked domain. They can receive emails from a php mail() function but not from my googlemail account.

Is there a setting I've missed? I've tried deleting and recreating the accounts.

Could a couple people email hr@eisnercomputers.co.uk and see if they get an automatic failure message from their email provider?

Thanks

X10 uses CPanel to configure MX records. You'll need to login to CPanel and open
MX entry tool

there add these entries

Why would I have to do that to be able to RECEIVE email?

It works from the php script. I'd quite like to understand why?

By the time I've stripped off the personal information from it, it's just a php mail() function.

It's attributes are "to", "subject", "message" and "from"...

That's fairly irrelevant... I already said it was a mail() function

could you re-read the posts...

I have set up email accounts on my x10hosting parked domain.

I can use the x10 webmail to send emails.

The email accounts can receive email from a php script.

The email accounts cannot receive email from other addresses.

I'm not trying to receive emails with a php function!

I'm fairly sure after you mentioned it that something is wrong with my mx entries either on my domain registrar or x10.

The googlemail account has nothing to do with the setup of the email accounts, I was just sending from the googlemail account to the email accounts on the parked domain...

I can confirm that the mail is returned "undeliverable"

I wonder if the mail() function works because you are sending and receiving from the same computer. MX lookups show that eisnercomputers.co.uk has no MX records. This may be because x10's servers are under construction. It makes sense that incoming mail will not be delievered because the sender's server cannot find the reciever's server.

Could you recieve mail on your primary domain?

I did that after you mentioned MX entries and I had a look around.

I think the problem may be at the registrar (OVH) in the MX servers for the domain I have:

Field Type Configuration Target address

.eisnercomputers.co.uk MX 1 Redirections redirect.ovh.net
.eisnercomputers.co.uk MX 100 Redirections mxb.ovh.net

I'm not sure what these entried actually do but it seems theyre sending my mail on a wild goose chase...
Edit:
I havent tried to receive mail from the primary domain... Its just a subdomain of x10hosting.com but I will try... Could it be a problem with the domain registrar settings I just posted? That would explain why the mail function worked.
Edit:
there is a setting in the MX record on x10's cPanel that says:

Always accept mail locally even if the primary mx does not point to this server.

The checkbox associated with it is checked so I guess that "the primary mx does not point to this server"
Edit:
Just to make this mammoth post complete, these are all the entried under "DNS zone" with my registrar. It seems to include the MX entries. I have not modified any of this, it's all automatic.

Field Type Target address
.eisnercomputers.co.uk NS dns13.ovh.net

.eisnercomputers.co.uk NS ns13.ovh.net
