Micro, just because you own an ATI, an Intel, and a Seagate... does not mean they are the best. Benchmarking results prove that nVidia almost doubles ATI's performance in video cards, AMD completely wipes Intel off the scoreboard, and Seagate is out-down by Western Digital (you want to see the proof? Google it, you will find tons of benchmarking tests to prove this).

First off: The nVidia 7800GTX is the best card out there (it doubles ATI's X1800 in every test they've done.)

Second: All processing chips have something like a waiting line (process commands are stored in this line until they are ready to be processed). How it originally worked is that Intel made their lines a certain size, and AMD came out with processors that have the waiting lines cut in less than half of Intels, so Intel came out with the Dual and Quad processing motherboards (to hold 4 processors, for those of you who don't know). AMD then did the same thing (since their waiting lines are shorter, they still are faster than Intels). Now AMD has the first public 64-bit processor and with their short waiting lines, the Intel chips are completely out of the competition. So basically, they ****ing suck.

Third: That is your harddrive that crashed, maybe you had boughten a defective one, maybe you did something to it by accident when you installed it (most likely by yourself, did you ground yourself when you installed it? Probably not). Also if you look at the reviews for Western Digital and Seagate, you will find that Western Digital turns out to be more relianle, trusted, and of a higher quality than Seagate (and atleast Western Digitial is made in North America).

I already have explained in my previous post that the benchmarking results prove my statements, so before you reply and tell me what it is that "you" believe, please google some stuff first. Thanks for your time. :hsdance:

ATI FTW! nVidia FTL!

Sorry, but just because it has more features doesn't mean its built better. Plus, who gives a **** which company is better. nVidia sucks because they spend their advertising off games and not other useful things like those hi-tech animation programs.

So, ATI wins, in my opinion. =]

ATI wins in your opinion? Than your opinion is wrong, that is unless you like second-hand ****. I never said anything about nVidia's features, doesn't matter what features they have. They advertise off games because the games WANT them to, not because they ask the games. These games want them to because when people see the ads they decide to buy nVidia's products and their products advertise the games. It's sort of like a negotiation. And also, nVidia performs better and delivers a higher quality of grahpics. I do not care what your "opinion" nor' the opinion of anyone else, what I am concerned with is what will bring me the best performance in a high-quality setting (and the best for this job is nVidia.) It doesn't matter about the company, it matters about what the products can do for you, and if you want the best graphics possible to the residential market then an nVidia card is your thing. I am sorry if this goes against what you believe, but this is not an opinion, these are the results of long hard hours of benchmark testing, so you can have your opinion, because I don't want one... I want the results and the proven facts on what is the best.

Guess what? I'm entitled to my opinion and you can't change that.

nVidia sucks more because they lie so ****ing much in their products. The games didn't want to advertise them. nVida payed them to get their freaking logo into the games.

Their support sucks, as they tell you to send it in for 100 dollars. ( I had one of their cards Ge Force 4200.

The graphics card itself isn't built propertly. I bought a second since its was cheap and the fan melted on the card. I read the box and no guarentees.

80 bucks that I spent is wasted. Good thing I have the other one, which is broken and snapped in half while the computer was on.

There is the future and a chance that later on maybe ATI will become greater than nVidia since ATI is more used in other products unlike the PC's.

Yo.. Calmense..

For the latest cards out, nVidia pwns ATI in every aspect except for frame buffer which ate ATI's new x1800 up.

And if you look at some benchmarks on the cards, most nVidias beat ATI, even though it is a by a little ammount.

It was ghey nVidia lied about their technology, but it was also ghey that ATI didn't switch to a 24 pixel process which nVidia took advantage over. SLI is also great. In my opinion, the crossfire (If I remember right) looks ugly.

ATI seems like a more professional company in my thoughts, but the true fact is, most nVidias actually beat ATIs..

I never said you couldn't have your opinion, I said it was wrong...

The graphics card is built extremely well, you just can't appreciate the fact that you have to spend an extra buck to get better graphics. It obviously isn't the cards fault that the fan melted, seeing as other people use them all around the world and it doesn't happen to them (they most likely put more strain on than you do while they are using it aswell). So this is obviously a lie or you are just a retard with your case on the carpet or have something blocking the ventilation on your computer.

You can't expect much when you buy cheap products, (yeah your GeForce 4200 is a real bad-boy, too bad it's like 20 years old, I would hope that a fan on a cheap card you buy melts...)

Other than shipping costs, I don't see how you would have to pay $100 unless you live in Asia...

A video card just doesn't snap in half while your computer is on (so obviously you're lying to "beef" up your complaints about nVidia).

You are wrong, PC's use nVidia, XBOX uses nVidia, PS2 uses nVidia, and most other high-end consoles. Why? Because nVidia has the best graphics available on the market.

*Edit: Even nVidia's once-prized 6800 Ultra can own ATI's recent accomplishment (the X1800) in some tests. So you should get your facts straight before you make a statement that says BS all over it.

It's getting a bit offtopic here, but to clear up the problem a little bit more, take a look at this.

I mean.. just look.

About the fan melting, your system probably needs to get a better cooling set up, or a yearly clean up of dust. I tend to do it almost every 2 months.

And about the card cracking. Sorry to hear about that. I have never heard such a thing. God must have been on PMS :/

But as in every aspect of this world.. there is a A person and a B person.

Fender person.. Gibson person
Mercedes person.. Cadilac person
Hummer person.. Jeep person

So I think it's ok to have a ATI person and a nVidia person. I own this nVidia, works great since I have a Pentium D and BTX, but like I posted earlier, I still like ATI since they seem more professional.

Let's be nice to one another.

I do believe Conor asked for help building and buying a computer not a big arguement on what video card is better. Get back on topic or I will close this thread.
