I sure hope it isn't the next generation of computing.. I'd hate to play video games while touching the screen!

I'd prefer a mouse over that any day IMO.

This isn't really anything groundbreaking - we've had touch screens and Nintendo DSes for how long now? - but all the same, it's nice to know Microsoft can actually come up with something decent once in a while. Though I'm with Spartan Erik; I'd still prefer a mouse and keyboard any day.

Looks incredible, I saw something demonstrating this about a year ago though so it took them a while to release it. It may not seem amazing just because its a touch screen, but if you look at all the features it much more advanced than the iphone, and I like and it automatically connects to some of your gadgets once you set them down on top of it.

I'm with spartan, but not entirely - some games are indeed best played with a keyboard and mouse.

But they do make flash based puzzles like the puzzles you get at stores (you know, the 100 piece ones, 200, 303, 500, etc.) - THAT would be friggin' awesome on a giant touch screen cause it'd be as easy as downloading a new puzzle without going to the store to buy it, and yet for the most part you could put it together the same way.

Games like Trauma Center would absolutely thrive on this too, or RTS's, or web browsing, or...Ya know just about anything - could probably make that table have a virtual touch-based keyboard and a touch pad (like the ones on laptops), cept that touchpad would be huge compared to a laptop :p

Still I wanna know the price tag - something tells me I could ebay everything in this room and not have enough to get it :happysad:

It's a bit weird if you ask me.
Now even tables are turning into computers !

well, Im not sure if there is a price tag right now since it comes out this spring. But if it is expensive, then Im sure there going to have a virtual keyboard and touch pad, or even a spot to place your palm on and move it like your holding a mouse.

I dont think businesses will buy into this. It's too much of an investment, for some guy to spill coffee on it or something

"Next generation computing" seems to be a bit of a stretch in my opinion - it's essentially a 30-inch touch screen. Yes it's cool, yes it could have some interesting applications, but I'm sorry, a giant touch-screen doesn't strike me as "next generation". It's like saying the first analog sticks, at the time, brought about the next generation of gaming - it's a miniature joystick, for crying out loud.

Regardless, I do get a little giddy when I think about playing the next Command and Conquer on that thing. At the same time, I'm a little wary about its potential price tag.

Im sure they are going to make the screen spill proof by adding a thin piece of glass so the actual screen doesnt get screwed up, but the touch screen itself will still work

oiwio, it's impossible to do something you are suggesting unless they make it that you have to set the sensitivity really high or you have to force pressure on the screen.

i wouldnt want microsoft surface, and im pretty sure only the people who are rich or who want to "show off" will get it.

i think the iPhone is the greatest touch screen technology. better than this bad makeup.

What is "the voyager" ?

This is what i got when i used google..

The LG Voyager is not a larger version of the LG enV, though the two are both side-opening QWERTY clamshell phones. Instead, think of the Voyager as the phone the LG should have been, or would be for an extra $200, give or take. While we complained about the tiny external screen and lack of features on the enV, we'll have no such complaints about the Voyager. The face is dominated by a large touch screen. We don't have specific measurements, but upwards of 2.5-inches or more would be our best guess. The interface relies heavily on the touch screen, and includes plenty of icon-based menus and shortcuts to help navigate without having to open the clam.

Thats not entirely true, there is such a thing as flexible glass. This would keep the coffee or any other thing you would keep on the table from getting into the touch screen itself, but would still be so thin that a little touch from a finger would be able to push it thus activating the touch screen below it.

Thats physco and confusing at same time! I think its around the $5000- $7500. I think it will be good for mostly multimedia! It wouldn't even be better if it was apple mac!
