I can not seem to edit my .htaccess file. If I try to edit it via CPanel's file manager file editor, it always just returns an error on saving, trying to upload and edited copy via FTP gives a 550: Permission Denied error, trying to change the permissions (which are set to both allow read and write) gives a permission denied error. Help?

Please don't stab me for bumping this, but I really do need to be able to edit it, I'm kind of stuck in my development until I can =\

Can you edit other files on the account?
When you go in via FTP, can you see the owner/group numbers? Are they the same as the rest of the files (that you can edit?)

I can change all other files just fine, and it has the same permissions as all the other files (-rw-r--r-- which is 644 i think)

Not permissions. Owner and group ID numbers.

I was able to fix the .htaccess problem, but site explanation will be required for the multiple mp3's, the multiple strange zip files, and why there's a public file uploader on here. That last one should be a ZT but in the interests of getting more information I'm willing to hear an explanation.

The mp3s are of songs i wrote, and the zips files are a java game i wrote, i can remove them if you feel it is to close to file hosting stuff, as for the public uploader, I don't remember having one of those? Could you be referring to the file uploader I have inside UOS (/newuos)? That is not public though...

It's in html.html. Now that I've got an explanation I'll run an unsuspension for it as soon as the system shuts up and plays nice with me :p You may want to either put some form of password protection on the html.html page itself or move it though, just to be safe. The password on the index.php where it has you login isn't actually required if you know the url.

Alright, thanks =) And I don't remember an html.html with uploading code in it o_O That needs to be looked into. What I was referring to was /newuos/files.php, and that has plenty of protection =P As for the index.php... is that the main one, or the one under /newuos? Because if it's the main one, I haven't even started that login, and if it's /newuos.... That makes me sad if you found a way around that, I spent a good while working on that authentication system =P

Main one, I didn't look at the newuos one :p I don't normally attempt to break things, but I was curious what was in html.html.

And it seems the backend system we use for suspending/unsuspending hates me, I'm in touch with one of the admins to see if we can find why I'm just getting "fatal communication error" all the time :S

Edit: Looks like maintainence on the server that actually runs the backend system; I'll keep trying to unsuspend it until it actually -does- :)

Ok, good, that scared me for a minute XD And html.html as far as I know is getting deleted when I get access back, as I do not remember making such file... =\ And I hope the system starts to like you again soon =D Also, a bit off topic, but I do have to note how much I love that picture in your sig, it is quite awesome XD

Check it if you get a chance; I may have found a work-around to get it to unsuspend on the server itself while I wait for the actual backend to come back online. I'm not sure if it unlocked the cpanel username or not though :(
