I swear this is the most impossible script ever to be installed on x10hosting servers. I like their hosting but it is impossible to install modx.

I revive this post cause it obviously hasn't been fixed after all these years.

and that tell us it will not be fixed

not all scripts in "Softaculous" will work on x10hosting's free-servers
like "cPanel" - "Softaculous" is not part of x10hosting - they are third-party software

I've tried installing it through "Softaculous" and without.

With Softaculous, the error you will always get will be sql issue

And without Softaculous (from file manager) you'll always get 503 error even though quadruple checked all permissions 755 on all folders and even checked files and sqls.

The 503 error [ e.g Error 503 Backend fetch failed ] - usually indicates that the web server is temporarily under more than normal load - OR your script did not produce a result within about thirty seconds (PHP time-out limit) - OR you have added a lot of add-ons to your CMS (e.g. WordPress)

I assume it is a PHP time-out error

Yeah that's the same answers I'd got if I google'd "503 error" I was hoping if anyone could help me troubleshoot this instead if possible :)

Your script isn't getting the usual 503 error we experience here where it's caused by the server being overloaded; loading the page actually shows this error message in the body of the page: Could not load MODX config file.

The script then throws its own 503 error to call attention to the error; you need to look into what's causing it to be unable to load the MODX config file. Unfortunately most of what I'm finding is in russian, and attempts to translate it are returning only a peculiar mish-mash of words that make less sense than alphabet soup :(
