MS Outlook - unable to send emails

I have my domain's name servers pointing to x10hosting and a POP email account configured. I am fully able to send and receive emails through Roundcube but when I try to set it up in MS Outlook I get a whole host of problems. I have tried to set the email account up with SSL/TLS encryption and without; I can fully receive mail but I am unable to send it, MS Outlook is not reporting any problems, The only time it works is if I email another account that is hosted on the (xo3) server. If I try to send it to a Outlook or Google email account nothing happens. I have tried different ports for incoming and outgoing traffic, I have Sky as my ISP and my friend has Talktalk, unfortunately it does the same at both of our homes. Any help would be appreciated.
