Today, I used Fantastico to install wordpress. My blog: http://anglogeek.x10.mx gave me the error page twice in one day! I cleared my cache the first time and restarted my internet and it worked, but now nothing has worked! The error page is still there and I need to work on my blog. This is so annoying! I was thinking about getting a domain and link it to the blog, but since I'm getting these error pages, I'm hesitant now. I want to know if these error pages will occur frequently later so that I can take precautions. Sorry if I sounded mean, but I'm so desperate!

Hello,

I suggest you flush your DNS and clear your browser cache at regular intervals, as your site will probably be back shortly. That way you stand the best chance of getting it back as quickly as possible.

For more information, please see: http://x10hosting.com/wiki/Defaultwebpage.cgi

At this stage, we don't know the cause of the errors, but it's very rare to get a failure like this.

Thanks. :)

I hope it works soon.

Sorry. Keep trying, but the server is still producing the errors I believe. The clearing and flushing ensures that once the error is cleared that the cache is cleared from your computer so a fresh copy is loaded, this time without the error.

Okay, one last question. I don't want to sound mean at all, but I saw a whole bunch of old threads stating the same problem and with you saying that the problem will be solved soon. Some threads are 3 years old! I love the idea of the free hosting you offer, but will this problem persist? I wouldn't like the idea of having my blog visitors see this error page again :(

We usually see a lot of similar issues, and usually all we can say is wait, especially if it's a server outage. The problems are solved, obviously (servers wouldn't be down for 3 years) but the threads aren't updated to reflect that. Once people have what they want, they don't care about anything else.
And will all due respect, it is free hosting. You can't expect 100% uptime. It is very reliable, but please try to remember that you're not giving anything for the service, and it is run a lot by volunteers like myself trying to help.
I can see why you'd think that's all I'm capable of saying, but sitting here at level 1 support I can only tell you what I've been told, which is usually nothing, which usually means it's being worked on, which usually means you have to wait.

If you want premium hosting with premium support with people like me who are paid, you're going to have to give up some money. I've stayed up 2 hours tonight to answer tickets, and it's the people that don't seem to understand the effort that goes into this that really make me want to give up.
