I've completed the free hosting application process but I still haven't received any email regarding my account. However, when I finished registering the forum, I received confirmation emails straight away...

please advise !

it may take 24-36 hours for you hosting account to be processed and emails sent.

There doesn't seem to be a link to any hosting account with your forum account.

What user name did you sign up for?

You should have gotten the confirmation e-mail pretty much right away, though as stated the actual creation might take a bit longer.
Since you have not gotten the confirmation e-mail the account might be dropped from queue, that is what happens when e-mail isn't confirmed within reasonable time. If that would be the case you need to step through sign up again.
