Edit:
I figured it out. By reading another message I saw that we need to change the MySQL database host to localhost. So I went into the config.php file and changed the $dbhost = 'localhost';

Now I seem to be functioning.

May I ask if you used cPanel or FTP to do the editing?

I was able to access my config file through ftp in IE by typing in

ftp:// [EMAIL=""my ftp name"@rustlersplace.x10hosting.com[/CODE"]"my ftp name"@rustlersplace.x10hosting.com[/CODE[/EMAIL]] The config file that I'd been editing through cPanel  had not changed, so I uploaded a new edited version with the DB pointed to localhost, and its working.  Editing the file in cPanel does not work.

I used CPanel. It was quick and easy.
