I'm still having issues with MySQL even though the server status says it's "back to normal".

I'm not sure how to describe it:

I can create databases and users, but when I try to install anything that needs mysql access, I get an error saying failed to connect to database and access denied. I have tried this with a few different extensions, with the same results.

What are you putting as host? Iit should be localhost
Also note that there's an automatic prefix added to your database name and your user. The prefix is yourcpanelnick_

yup, have all that I am using localhost, as that is the default in all of the addons. I've tried to flush priveledges in mysql but I don't have reload priveledges...
