just to clear my mind, i did not know elementfx.com was a x10 hosting domain
since it ends in .com as my primary x10 domain ends in x10.bz which is x10's.
and i still have 2 add-on and 2 sub domains available so mine is not effected.
i assumed the elementfx.com was julies paid domain name.

And how do I do that? I have a free hosting account with X10hosting. When I created my account I set it up with julie.elementfx.com (which I'm in the process of deleting since I no longer need it), then I created the addon domain of beautifulmess.elementfx.com (also being deleted). I have been trying to create the 2nd addon domain (meaning I would then have used up both addon domains I am allowed) with no luck. I did not have to register or create a 2nd domain when I created my first addon domain. The new addon domain should be juliewaters.elementfx.com, but the only thing I've been able to create without errors is juliewaters.julie.elementfx.com, which I don't want.

Ok with a but of research i learned elementfx.com is an x10 domain name.
i didn't know they had .com names when i got my account.

but that would be like my current spacres.x10.bz when i first signed up.
if i wanted say blog.spacres.x10.bz i can simply accomplish it by creating
a sub domain called blog and have a /blog/ folder in my public_html folder.
that's what i did on my paid server for my project honeypot.
i did not need to create an add on domain for it.

but i assume you still want to create it as a add on domain instead ?

after numerous tries on my own x10 account id say only way you can do that
is with a sub-domain of elementfx.com
i even tried adding my paid server here at x10 but it failed
telling me to transfer my paid domain here to x10 instead.

a simple example i tried was test.spacres.x10.bz which is like your trying to do.
and i get a message saying saying to use sub-domains to achieve this.

I took out your screenshots to make my reply box smaller, but I copied what you did. I went to that TK website and created a free domain (juliewaters.tk), changed the name server's, then went to cPanel to create an addon domain.

This is the info I entered

And I got this error.

ok, all you can do is add sub-domains of familytree.elementfx.com
any your-name.elementfx.com has to be a new account here.
so even julie.elementfx.com or juliewaters.elementfx.com
will not work since elementfx.com is owned by x10 hosting
that's a down-side to add on domains.

even sub-domains need to end up like your_name.familytree.elementfx.com
you cannot escape having to use familytree.elementfx.com since familytree is
your account that leads to your public_html directory

so to get juliewaters.elementfx.com you would need to rename your entire account
or open a fresh new account as juliewaters.elementfx.com or whatever free domain name they allow that would replace elementfx.com

hopefully this answers your question or helps.

Did they change how it works? Because when I created my original account (sometime around 2010) I set it up with julie.elementfx.com (which I'm in the process of deleting since I no longer need it), then I created the addon domain of beautifulmess.elementfx.com (also being deleted). I logged into the same X10hosting account to access cPanel for either site.

not sure if they did or not, but when i tried with my x10 domain it
wouldn't let me.
my URL is spacres.x10.bz i tried creating both of these...
test.spacres.x10.bz and just test.x10.bz without the spacres and it did not
allow me to. me using test would be like you using juliewaters instead.

Ok, so then I think they did change things around, but left everything the same, didn't update their FAQ, etc. Once my account finishes deleting, I'll restart it with the new domain.

As I said in last part with WARNING. You must wait a while for it to registered into the nameserver first before at least 48 hours this is related to dns. (if this is a paid domain this is instant, free is not always availale instantly)
And your document root path must be first at "public_html/" on first which would be like this

public_html/your_desire_folder_name

This is must for not cluttering your account and easy to trouble shoot later.
at the end you know properly how to add domains now. just a little problem on the nameserver not registering. Anyway that the final step the nameserver registartion of x10hsoting to your domain

Refer to this post as these thing change long ago.

@cjptomas80, thanks for that link, it explains a lot that i didn't know either.
like where essellar mentioned "It definitely requires an admin with sufficient access to make the change." and personally imho would take an awful long time here.
as they are not readily available. just saying.
