Need help regarding .htaccess restrictions and protections

can anybody suggest me useful tips and tricks to protect my wordpress blog from hacks..eventually by protecting the .htaccess file and giving certain restrictions
please help me

Login to you website's ftp account with filezilla, then right click on your website's folder (usually your website's name) then click on permission and then select the protection level that you want hope this helps, pls get back to me if it works or doesn't
